Est. 1918

A century on the same street.

Four generations of one Gibraltarian family, one Main Street, and the same idea: treat every client as if they will come back with their grandchildren.

The year was 1918. The First World War was in its final summer. On a Main Street not yet paved in the way we know it today, a young merchant — our great-grandfather — opened a small door of his own. He sold the things one travelled to buy in Gibraltar even then: silver, watches, the first gold pieces. The shop was barely ten square metres. It is today the flagship of a family that has never left Main Street.

The Essardas name carried. Sons worked beside fathers. Nephews were taught the eye for a stone and the patience for a sale that might take years. By the 1960s the house had grown into multiple doors on the same street, each one named for a different branch of the family, each with its own character. That has never changed.

Four Generations

From grandfather to grandson.

Every generation brought something of its own. The founders brought the art of the negotiation. The second generation brought the Swiss timepieces — first Omega, then the great houses that followed. The third generation opened the flagship at 173 and built the authorisations with Hublot, Chopard, Zenith. The fourth is building the house the next century will need: bespoke, digital, international — and still, on Main Street.

We are a family that stood behind the counter. None of this was bought; all of it was learned.

Today

Seven boutiques, one postcode.

Today Essardas Group represents the finest watchmakers of Switzerland and the most significant jewellery houses of Europe and Japan, across seven boutiques on Gibraltar's Main Street — and serves clients across the Rock, Spain, the UK, and the wider world.

Our Values

Three things, kept simple.

I

Authenticity

Every watch, every diamond, every piece — direct from the maison, warranted by the manufacturer, serviced through the official network. No shortcuts.

II

Service

A jeweller is a relationship, not a transaction. We restore, re-size, re-set, source and value — for as long as you want to keep the piece, and for the next generation after that.

III

Family

Four generations in. Our team has been with us for decades. Our clients bring their children. This is a house, not a store.

The Rock

About Gibraltar.

Gibraltar is a 6.7 km² British Overseas Territory at the southern tip of the Iberian peninsula, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. British since 1713, English-speaking, Sterling and Euro trading at par, and operating with 0% VAT. Twelve minutes from Spain by foot. An hour from the UK by air.

For a century Gibraltar has been a tax-free crossroad for the Mediterranean's finest goods. Main Street is its artery, and Essardas is one of its oldest houses.
